I will present some summary statistics which can explain the trends that we observed during the month of June 2021. This complements similar reports from March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, and December 2020, and January, February, March, April, and May 2021.
Total cases on 31 May: 419,611

Total case increase: 1,995
Smallest daily case increase: 31 (20 & 29 June)
Largest daily case increase: 100 (3 June)
Average daily increase: 66.50
Total fatalities on 31 May: 7,215
Total fatalities on 30 June: 7,307
Total fatality increase: 92
Smallest daily fatality increase: 0 (21, 26 & 28 June)
Largest daily fatality increase: 7 (17 June)

Interesting that per capita cases for Virginia have now surpassed DC and moved closer to Maryland, but that per capita fatalities for Virginia remain much lower than the other jurisdictions.
ReplyDeleteMakes sense to move to weekly vs. daily reporting at this stage. Doubt that the new variants will have much impact in this area due to the relatively high level of vaccination.

Thank you. While I enjoy tracking the trends, there frankly isn't much movement anymore (which is a good thing), and the idea of a daily report when it's at a low, constant level did not have much appeal for me.
