Much like I did with the months of MarchApril, and May, I hope to present some summary statistics which can explain the trends that we observed during the month of June.

Total case increase: 16,168

Smallest daily case increase: 288 (16 June)
Largest daily case increase: 1,133 (4 June)

Median daily growth rate: 1%
Average daily growth rate: 1%




Total Fatality Growth
Total fatalities on 31 May: 2,536
Total fatalities in 30 June: 3,121
Total fatality increase: 585

Smallest daily fatality increase: 5 (21 June)*
Largest daily fatality increase: 44 (3 June)

Median daily growth rate: 1%
Average daily growth rate: 1%

  1. Although Virginia's shares of cases and fatalities seem to have edged up slightly, Virginia is still significantly lower than the other areas in terms of per-capita measures.

    This is particularly the case for per-capita fatalities as shown by the above graph. Perhaps this is due to differences in health care resources or simply differences in the characteristics of the populations.

    1. The underlying demographics of Virginia, Maryland, and DC are all distinct, of course. A separate research question for a another time.
