September 28th Data Update

This post updates COVID-19 confirmed case data for the DC Metropolitan area as of September 28th 2020. The total confirmed cases in the DC area rose by 314 to 124,514 from the previous total of 124,200, an approximate <1% increase. Fatalities rose by 7 to 3,713 from the previous total of 3,706, an approximate <1% increase.

As a brief note on methodology, today will be the last day that I routinely publish the percentage increase figure. It has ceased to become all that significant - the last time the figure for fatalities has been at or above 1% was on 4 July (16 new over 3,147 extant, for 0.508%, which rounds up to 1%), while for infections it has been since 18 September (619 new over 119,952, for 0.52%). Should percentage growth rates become a concern again, I will resume reporting them, but I don't foresee that happening.
