  1. I was waiting for those numbers to spike up with the protests. Looks like we dodge the bullet and masks do the job! Do you agree?

    1. It would appear no spikes related to the recent protests, but honestly who knows? There could be a situation, for instance, where there was indeed community transmission during the mass gatherings, but that:

      1) They haven't been tested and were asymptomatic cases
      2) The transmission occurred among people living outside of the region, and hence were tested in their home towns outside of the DC area
      3) There was indeed a modest rise, but the overall declining rates in the DC area masked that rise.

I've got a draft of a "cases and deaths declining" analysis post that I hope to work on soon. I'll note that new cases seem to be stuck around 400/day for the past few days now.

  2. Yeah I see those upper 300 and mid 400s in daily cases is the tendency for the past week. Better than 1000 daily, but still high enough to makes us be extra careful out there. Wondering what the 2nd phase opening will bring us. Thanks again good info as usual.

    1. Appreciate the readership and your comment. I need to review the testing capacity across the region, to make sure that it hasn't declined (and hence would have been the reasons for the declining case rates). However, my intuition is that the social distancing+mask regimen worked, and that the decreased cases are the result of it.
