May 20th Data Update
This post updates COVID-19 confirmed case data for the DC Metropolitan area as of May 20th 2021. The total confirmed cases in the DC area rose by 230 to 417,780 from the previous total of 417,550. Fatalities rose by 3 to 7,007 from the previous total of 7,004.

Looking forward to both of these curves reaching a plateau. Very close right now.

I can't see cases taking off again. Unlike last summer's floor (~400 daily cases), this curve keeping dipping downwards, along with the mass vaccinations occurring in this area.
DeleteI personally believe that much of these remaining reported cases are either asymptomatic or administrative backlogs (hence the recent 0-0-18 days for Alexandria earlier this week).
Once cases get below 100 in the region on a consistent basis, I'll probably retire daily reporting.
Funny to think that this all started because the Washington Post refused to use an accurate definition of the "DC Area" when compiling their statistics.
